Veterans Day: A powerful tribute to those who've served
Bossier Parish Community College will host a powerful tribute to honor our nation’s veterans this morning. BPCC has placed 1,000 American flags on display in the quad, the college’s central outdoor area on its Bossier campus.
The patriotic presentation is to commemorate Veterans Day and recognize the invaluable sacrifices of those who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
The tribute is currently on display and will highlight BPCC's annual Veterans Day ceremony at 9:30 am. This year’s special guest speaker is Charlton J. Meginley, Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Veteran Affairs.
The public is invited to join in this salute to the men and women who have served our country.
Flags were available for purchase during the month of October, and all proceeds were donated to the Salvation Army of Northwest Louisiana for their Homeless Veteran Program. A check presentation will be held during the Veterans Day ceremony.
Each flag in the quad represents the honor of those who stood in service, and together, they create a meaningful display of appreciation visible to all. Following the ceremony, guests are invited to walk around the display as a way to show their personal respect.

I-20 reconstruction: Nightly closures of I-20 westbound from I-220 to Airline Drive
The reconstruction of I-20 in Bossier City is entering a transition into Phase 3 in the westbound direction.
According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, beginning tonight, Monday, November 11, 2024, I-20 westbound will be closed full nightly from I-220 to the Airline Drive interchange.
All of the ramps at Airline Drive will not be impacted and will remain open to traffic.
These nightly closures will take place over five nights from approximately 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. to allow the contractor to safely perform work in preparation for moving the concrete barriers that separate the lanes.
On Saturday, November 16, 2024, traffic will be shifted to the new travel lanes on I-20 westbound from I-220 to Airline Drive. The remainder of the shift from Airline Drive to Hamilton Road will occur in the coming weeks.
As a reminder, the partial shift for the eastbound direction took place in late October 2024, beginning at the Industrial Drive interchange. That process will also be ongoing over the next several weeks to fully complete that shift.
