Public complaints spur investigation into underage sales of alcohol and vaping products in Bossier Parish
In what the Sheriff said was a response to growing concerns from citizens, the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office recently conducted a series of compliance checks at local stores to ensure businesses are not illegally selling alcohol or vaping products to underage individuals.
Deputies visited 13 stores across Bossier Parish as part of this proactive enforcement effort. These operations were prompted by complaints from the public who reported that individuals under the age of 21 were able to purchase restricted products at certain retail locations.
The following locations sold alcohol to persons under the age of 21. The individuals responsible for unlawful sales received a citation for that infraction.

Inside Barkdale AFB: NFL's Emery Jones of the Ravens to host youth football camp at BAFB
NFL offensive tackle Emery Jones of the Baltimore Ravens, via LSU, will host a youth football camp at Barksdale Air Force Base, June 30–July 1.
The camp will welcome nearly 150 military-connected children, ages 6–14, from the Barksdale community. Sessions will run from 9 am to noon both days, with the same group of children participating throughout the event.
Jones will also discuss the importance of leading a healthy and active lifestyle, highlighting the experiences of military children within the armed forces community. The event aims to build community connections and recognize the resilience and strength of military families.
'Stage to screen' summer camp for kids planned for late July
The Stage to Screen Studio and Bossier Arts Council will present a five-day summer camp from July 28 to August 1. In this creative week-long camp from 9 am to 12 pm daily, your precocious performers will explore all aspects of creating theatre from developing characters to working with scene partners in order to tell a story — to actually staging a short play in just one week.
Under the direction of instructor Amber Dawn, students in the camp will practice the fundamentals of storytelling and stage acting through various movement and voice exercises. It will be a week filled with physical and vocal games and exercises designed to help improve performance and speaking skills. In the last hour of our Friday camp, the hard-working thespians will perform a staged reading of their work for families and friends.
This camp is appropriate for school-aged children who can read with minimal assistance. The fee for the whole week is $150. Sibling discount is available. Ask about scholarship opportunities. Early bird special: Sign up by July 4th for only $125 each.
DOTD seeks input from you on 'Louisiana's transportation future'
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is seeking input from Louisiana residents to help plan the state's future transportation infrastructure. The survey results will be used to help improve transportation infrastructure for residents throughout Louisiana.

Bossier Schools: New principal appointed at Elm Grove Middle School
Bossier Schools is proud to announce that Rick Bryant has been appointed as the new Principal of Elm Grove Middle School.
With 30 years of experience in education, Bryant brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to his new role. His journey has included serving as the Assistant Principal at Elm Grove Middle for the last seven years. Before that, he taught at Airline and was the head baseball coach and athletic director at Parkway.
He has garnered numerous accolades, the most recent being the 2024-25 Louisiana Association of Principals’ Assistant Principal of the Year and the 2025 National Association of Principals Assistant Principal of the Year, Louisiana.
