Are you ready? Creed rocks the BGA Saturday
This weekend, Bossier City's Brookshire Grocery Arena will host an electrifying night of rock music as Creed takes the stage for their Are You Ready? Tour. The iconic rock band, known for hits like "Higher" and "My Own Prison," will perform Saturday with special guests 3 Doors Down and Mammoth WVH.
Creed gained massive popularity in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Formed in 1994 in Tallahassee, Florida, the band's sound is often characterized as a blend of post-grunge and hard rock.
Creed’s debut album, "My Own Prison," released in 1997, was an unexpected success. It went multi-platinum and produced four number-one singles on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, including the title track, "Torn," "What's This Life For," and "One."
Their second album, "Human Clay" (1999), was even more successful. It featured their most iconic song, “Higher,” as well as "With Arms Wide Open,” which won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song.
Their third album, "Weathered" (2001), debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and included hits like “My Sacrifice” and “One Last Breath.”
Despite their success, Creed faced internal tensions, leading to their breakup in 2004. Since then, they have occasionally reunited for tours and performances, keeping their loyal fan base engaged.
Creed's Are You Ready? Tour marks the band's first major reunion tour in over a decade and will include Creed’s original lineup: Scott Stapp, Mark Tremonti, Brian Marshall, and Scott Phillips.
Doors will open at 6:00 p.m., with the show kicking off at 7 p.m.
House Republicans reelect Mike Johnson to serve as Speaker of the House
Wednesday, House Republicans reelected Speaker Mike Johnson to lead the House Republican Conference and continue serving as the 56th Speaker of the House of Representatives for the 119th Congress.
“We had a very productive day together as a Republican Conference, and the theme that you'll hear over and over from all of our members across the conference is that we are unified and energized and ready to go,” Johnson said. “We have to deliver for the American people beginning on day one in the new Congress, and we will be ready for that.”
C'mon, really. Would you fall for this phone scam?
Look, we know BPSO has to do its job, but this scam notice is a little over the top. Some knucklehead — with a foreign accent — who can't even pronounce Bossier correctly is a threat to local citizens?
Hard to believe. But here's the "warning" to local citizens.
"Detectives with the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office are warning Bossier residents about another round of phone scams circulating in the parish. Detectives say the caller in this scam identifies himself as Sergeant Brian Collins with the Bossier Sheriff’s Office Small Claims Division and says the potential victim owes money. The scammer calls from (318) 935-9164 speaks with a foreign accent, and does not pronounce Bossier correctly."
OK, you've been warned.
Detectives say one way for residents not to fall victim to this scam is to know that it is not BPSO policy to contact someone by phone demanding payment for a fine or to solicit money.
If you feel you have fallen victim to this scam, call the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office at (318) 965-3418 or (318) 965-2203.
AI ranks the top five restaurants in Bossier City
Sometimes, we get a little fidgety on slow news days here at BossierNow. When we find ourselves a little bored, we do stuff like this:
We asked an artificial "intelligence" app to list the top five restaurants in Bossier City. The first list named one restaurant that is actually located in Shreveport. We told the AI about the problem, and it apologized (as AI always does when caught in a lie) and offered to correct the list.
It's a pretty good roster of restaurants in BC — especially considering that AI doesn't eat food or have taste buds.

Dedicated but not open: Veterans Parkway
On Monday, the Bossier Parish Police Jury held a dedication ceremony for the newly named Veterans Parkway. No, it's not open yet — it's just named and dedicated.
"Police Jury President Philip Rodgers welcomed about 50 people to the event. District 8 Juror Doug Rimmer shared some remarks on the viability of the parkway's highly anticipated opening and its impact on the parish," the BPPJ said in a release.
Two other notable speakers on the program were Col. Erick Lord, Vice Wing Commander, Barksdale Air Force Base, and Secretary Charlton Meginley, Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs.
When opened, the parkway will connect I-220 at Swan Lake Rd in Bossier City to LA Hwy 162 via Crouch Rd in Benton.
The north/south corridor has been under construction for two years and is projected to open around Thanksgiving.
Nightly closure: I-20 eastbound off-ramp at Airline Drive
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that the I-20 eastbound off-ramp at Airline Drive (LA 3105) in Bossier City remains closed.
This ramp closure is scheduled to continue through Sunday from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. each night and is necessary to allow for construction activities to take place as part of the ongoing I-20 major rehabilitation project.
As a reminder, the project is currently transitioning into Phase 3 (final phase), with ongoing traffic shifts occurring in both the eastbound and westbound directions. Traffic is being shifted onto the newly constructed inside travel lanes, so demolishing and removing the old outside lanes can begin.
